Raul Midón

On March 5, 2026, La Luciole in Alençon welcomes Raul Midón, a singer-guitarist from New Mexico whose music sits at the crossroads of jazz, soul and pop. On stage he pairs a supple voice—capable of sliding from a clear whisper to more ardent tones—with an acoustic guitar that simultaneously weaves melodies, bass lines and harmonies. His trademark: the mouth trumpet, a trumpet-like sound produced with the mouth that he incorporates into his improvisations as a full-fledged instrument.

His trajectory has taken him from clubs to collaborations with Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder and Bill Withers, and to projects alongside Queen Latifah and Snoop Dogg. Blind since childhood, he grounds his songwriting in a precise sensitivity to texture and rhythm, creating songs that rely on groove and nuance.
