Info
On March 27, 2027, The Academic land at Vicar Street in Dublin with the kind of indie rock that’s built for singing back at the stage. The Mullingar quartet, led by Craig Fitzgerald alongside Dean Gavin and brothers Matthew and Stephen Murtagh, have carved out a sound that sits right between bright pop-rock hooks and a more restless, nervous energy.
Since the chart-topping debut Tales From The Backseat, they’ve kept sharpening their knack for punchy melodies and that familiar, half-nostalgic rush. Their second album Sitting Pretty pushes that balance further, mixing modern bite with classic guitar-pop instincts, with echoes that nod to bands like The Kinks and Talking Heads without turning into pastiche. Expect tight, fast-moving songs, big choruses, and a set that plays like a shared moment rather than a performance at arm’s length.
