On January 31, 2027, at Club Regent Event Centre in Winnipeg, Men Without Hats bring their keyboard-driven new wave and synth-pop back to the stage, with Ivan Doroschuk still steering the project. The set draws on the band’s early-80s electronic pop DNA that broke through with Rhythm of Youth, then follows the way their sound opened up over the years, from the more guitar-friendly pop framing of Pop Goes the World to later, more rock-leaning chapters, and into their renewed run of releases and touring in the 2000s and beyond. Expect tight, repetitive rhythms, big choruses, and that clean, classic synth palette that made them a staple of the era.
That same night, Spoons line up their blend of synth-pop, sharp-edged guitars, and melodic hooks, built around longtime core Gordon Deppe and Sandy Horne. Coming out of Ontario’s early-80s wave, their live side taps into the band’s most danceable, concise writing as keyboards took the lead, with a track record that runs from Arias & Symphonies through the Nile Rodgers-produced Talkback, plus the run of early classics that defined their peak years. A double bill made for anyone who likes their pop lean, wired, and made to move.
