On 19 July 2026, Yard Act bring their sharp Leeds post-punk to Rough Trade East in London for a special matinee performance celebrating the release of their new album You’re Gonna Need A Little Music (Island). Led by vocalist James Smith and bassist Ryan Needham, the band have built their name on tight, talk-sung narratives, dry humour and that constant sense of social observation that cuts through the groove rather than sitting on top of it.
Since breaking through with early singles and their 2022 debut The Overload, Yard Act’s songs have felt like snapshots of modern life: restless rhythms, wiry guitars, and lyrics that sound like overheard conversations turned into pointed little stories. Expect a set that leans into that tension between danceable momentum and deadpan commentary, with the new record at the centre of it.
