Skerryvore arrives at The Academy in Dublin on 11 December 2026, with its distinctive way of bridging Scotland and electricity. Born in the Inner Hebrides in the early 2000s around brothers Daniel and Martin Gillespie, the band first played for dancing before widening its playground by settling in Glasgow and forging its path on stage.
Their sound rests on a true traditional core, with bagpipes, accordion and fiddle at the forefront, supported by a rock rhythm section. Skerryvore weaves reels and jigs without getting stuck in folklore: over the albums, from West Coast Life to Tempus, the band has opened its compositions to more 'song-oriented' formats, with contemporary folk colours, and influences from pop, country and Americana. On stage, the set alternates between tension and release, with instrumentals that rise in intensity and more melodic passages, always with that sense of teamwork that is their signature.
