The Atlanta duo of singer-songwriter Olivia Osby and multi-instrumentalist Avsha Weinberg long crafted their material at home, between lo-fi demos and bursts of bedroom pop, before shifting toward a more urgent indie rock. Their tracks blend distorted guitars, taut, post-punk-leaning rhythms and more stripped-back acoustic passages, with a keen sense of contrast that shifts the moods without overstatement.

On stage, Lowertown often surround themselves with an expanded band. The arrangements gain depth, the dynamics tighten and loosen, while the project’s raw, intimate sheen remains front and centre. They move from spoken fragments to suspended melodies and then to rougher climaxes, without losing the clarity of the lines.

The lyrics, delivered by Olivia Osby’s voice, probe very personal themes—everyday anxiety, relationships, and the dislocations of urban life—while Avsha Weinberg balances grittier sounds with brighter motifs. Releases such as “The Gaping Mouth” and the album I Love to Lie set this framework, which the duo brings to the stage with precise energy and without unnecessary effects.
