AGMP Presents: Nouvelle Vague - A Date with Depeche Mode

Nouvelle Vague, the Paris-born collective founded by Marc Collin and the late Olivier Libaux, brings its new chapter A Date with Depeche Mode to Saint Luke's & The Winged Ox in Glasgow on March 19, 2027. Known for recasting post-punk and new wave into airy, bossa-tinged arrangements, the group focuses for the first time on a single catalogue: thirteen Depeche Mode songs reimagined with acoustic textures, close harmonies and a relaxed Brazilian pulse. The project was recorded in Rio with local musicians, shaping a dialogue between the band’s signature minimalism and the melodic core of these synth-pop landmarks.

On stage, Nouvelle Vague’s modular setup and rotating vocalists put the spotlight on melody and lyric, replacing electronic heft with nylon strings, light percussion and subtle dynamics. The album’s first single, Enjoy the Silence, pairs Skye Edwards (Morcheeba) and Larry Love (Alabama 3) to sketch the tone of the set: two distinct voices meeting in a pared-back arrangement that lets the song’s contours surface. Seventh album, new voices, familiar craft — a focused homage where Depeche Mode’s writing meets Nouvelle Vague’s understated touch.
