On 28 October 2026 at Manchester Academy, Citizen lead the night. Born between Toledo, Ohio and southeast Michigan, the band has carried emo and post-hardcore roots into a denser, more melodic alternative rock. Mat Kerekes fronts alongside Nick Hamm, Eric Hamm, Mason Mercer and Ben Russin, driving songs that shift from taut hooks to foggier, overdriven textures. Across Youth, Everybody Is Going to Heaven, As You Please, Life in Your Glass World and Calling the Dogs, their writing has tightened without losing the grit and shade that marked the early years, balancing impact, space and a clear sense of melody.
Modern Color bring a South Bay take on weight and atmosphere: thick guitars, measured tempos and vocals that stay plain and direct. Sitting between post-hardcore, shoegaze, emo and grunge, they work contrasts — saturation against air, pressure against introspection — for a sound that moves easily from DIY rooms to larger stages.
