Info

Hothouse Flowers bring their Greatest Hits Tour to Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts in Poole on 18 November 2026. Formed on the streets of Dublin in 1985 by Liam Ó Maonlaí and Fiachna Ó Braonáin, later joined by Peter O’Toole, the band built a sound that folds alternative and folk rock into Celtic colours, with touches of soul, gospel and Irish tradition. Ó Maonlaí’s voice and the band’s close harmonies carry songs that move from driving grooves to acoustic ballads and folk-tinged refrains.

This show revisits a catalogue that first broke through with People in 1988, followed by Home in 1990 and Songs from the Rain in 1993, years that also took them to stages like Reading and Glastonbury and into collaborations with the Indigo Girls and The Dubliners, plus a one-off with Def Leppard as The Acoustic Hippies From Hell. After a pause in the mid-90s, the group returned with Born in 1998, then The Vaults Vol. 1, Into Your Heart and Let’s Do This Thing, keeping a live core around Ó Maonlaí and Ó Braonáin with Dave Clarke, Martin Brunsden and Peter O’Toole. Expect a set that spans these chapters, played with the looseness and warmth that suit their songs.
