On 4 December 2026 at O2 Apollo in Manchester, The Very Best of the Pogues celebrates the Irish-British group that fused traditional music with punk urgency. Formed in early-80s London around Shane MacGowan, Spider Stacy and Jem Finer, The Pogues built a sound where tin whistle, banjo and accordion meet driving rhythms and plainspoken storytelling. The show revisits the heart of their catalogue: the rough‑hewn ballads and headlong jigs from Red Roses for Me and Rum Sodomy & the Lash, the broader folk rock of If I Should Fall from Grace with God, and later chapters like Peace and Love and Hell’s Ditch. Between reworked traditionals and originals, the set traces a repertoire that shaped celtic punk and still cuts close to the bone, from street corners to late‑night singalongs.
