Info

The Streets land at Scarborough Open Air Theatre in Scarborough on 1 August 2026. Mike Skinner’s project has traced a distinct line through UK rap and garage since the early 2000s, from the lean snap of Original Pirate Material to the narrative arc of A Grand Don’t Come for Free and its cuts Dry Your Eyes, Fit But You Know It and Blinded by the Lights. On stage, Skinner stitches everyday scenes, late-night drift and sharp one-liners into beats that slide between garage bounce, rap and electronica, with a delivery that stays close to spoken word while keeping the dancefloor in view. The set moves across his catalogue, reaching toward 2023’s The Darker the Shadow the Brighter the Light without losing the direct writing that made his voice stand out.

Opening, Jimothy Lacoste brings a stripped, deadpan take on pop-rap built from cool synths, steady drum machines and hooks that loop in your head. Emerging online with Future Bae, Fashion and Subway System, he turns small rituals, clothes and city travel into straight-faced mantras, playing with internet-age imagery as much as rhythm. His minimal arrangements and clear, unhurried flow set a precise frame for the night.
