Info
The HU land at O2 Apollo, Manchester, on 10 October 2026 with their “hunnu rock”, a blend where Mongolian throat singing and traditional motifs lock in with dense riffs and alternative metal grooves. Formed in Ulaanbaatar in 2016, the band built its sound around guttural leads, collective chants and steppe-inspired melodies, shaping a language that sits somewhere between folk memory and amplified music.
Their early singles Yuve Yuve Yu and Wolf Totem put them on the global map in 2018 and opened the road to heavy touring across Asia, Europe and North America. The debut album The Gereg (2019) laid the foundations: low drones, unison hooks, and guitar lines that bite without rushing. Rumble of Thunder (2022) pushed the heavier edge and anchored the group firmly in today’s metal circuits.
On stage, The HU stack voices and percussive patterns into slow builds and hard-driving marches, shifting from trance-like passages to tight, riff-led charges. Along the way they’ve crossed paths with artists like Serj Tankian and Jacoby Shaddix, underlining the project’s bridge between Mongolian heritage and contemporary rock. A set built for bodies and choruses, sung in Mongolian but cut for a global crowd.
