Squeeze land at The O2, London, on 26 November 2026, led by the songwriting duo Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook. A pillar of British new wave, the band blends nervy pop, delicate melodies and tales of everyday life. From the early singles that revealed them — Take Me I’m Yours, Cool for Cats, Up the Junction — to landmark albums like East Side Story, and more recent tracks from Cradle to the Grave and The Knowledge, Squeeze unfolds a precise songcraft, carried by the contrast between Difford’s deep voice and Tilbrook’s clear timbre, and by concise arrangements that go straight to the point.
Very special guest Billy Bragg opens the evening with a stripped-back setup, electric guitar and vocals to the fore, between urban folk and punk energy. From Life’s a Riot with Spy vs Spy and Talking with the Taxman about Poetry to Workers Playtime and Don’t Try This at Home, he weaves lyrics where social observation and intimate narratives intersect. His work setting Woody Guthrie’s words to music with Wilco on Mermaid Avenue, as well as his more recent material on The Million Things That Never Happened, completes a direct, narrative repertoire perfectly suited to the stage ahead of Squeeze’s entry.
