Sunny Day Real Estate bring their slow-burn intensity back to the stage in Manchester on 14 July 2026 at New Century. Formed in Seattle in 1992, the band carved out a place between emo, indie rock and post-hardcore, driven by Jeremy Enigk’s distinctive vocals, interlocking guitars that shift from intricate arpeggios to blunt riffs, and dynamics that swing from hush to surge. The early run — Diary (1994) and the self-titled LP2 (1995) — set the tone and left songs that still resonate live, while How It Feels to Be Something On (1998) and The Rising Tide (2000) stretched the canvas with wider, more deliberate structures.

After years of stop-starts, the group reunited in 2022 with Chris Jordan on bass and the return of Greg Suran on guitar. In 2024 they shared Novum Vetus, a piece reworked from earlier writing by the current line-up. On stage, expect a set that threads the urgency of Seven and In Circles with the spacious pull of Pillars and Faces in Disguise, carried by sharp contrasts and a melodic grain that defines their live presence.
