After closing his Dirty Beaches project, Alex Zhang Hungtai has focused his practice on improvisation, exploring the relationship between improvisation and the unconscious through free jazz, composition and sonic experimentation. He performs on July 3, 2026 at 6:30 PM at Casa Montjuïc.
His most recent work centers on saxophone, percussion and electronics, creating open pieces where the intuitive and the structural coexist. At the same time, he is developing a career as a film-score composer and as a collaborator in film.
A practice in constant mutation, between radical improvisation and the construction of new sonic languages.
