The Lilacs

On 10 April 2027, The Lilacs will stop at Supersonic in Paris’s 12th arrondissement. Hailing from Wigan, this indie rock quartet brings together Ollie Anglesea (vocals), Sam Birchall (guitar), Dave Gomersall (drums) and Matt Johnson (bass). Their playground: clean guitars, earworm choruses and songwriting rooted in the tradition of Britain’s live-band scene. If you’re into Circa Waves, The Reytons or The Royston Club, you’ll be in the right place: The Lilacs draw a clear line between straightforward pop rock and indie nervous energy. Spotted on the UK circuit, they’ve played dates from Manchester’s Albert Hall to venues in the O2 Academy network, and even the Isle of Wight Festival. “Vicarage Road,” one of their early singles, laid the foundations: catchy melodies, tight rhythms and guitar up front.
