Little Barrie

Little Barrie bring their British rock back to the stage with shades of blues, funk and soul: on 19 November 2026 at Hafenklang in Hamburg. Active since the late ’90s around singer and guitarist Barrie Cadogan, the trio has distilled its sound—between garage, psychedelia and R&B—into compact grooves and clear melodies. After the death of drummer Virgil Howe, Cadogan and bassist Lewis Wharton initially put the name on ice; with Malcolm Catto they formed Quatermass Seven and Electric War. Now the band returns under its own name with Gravity Freeze.

The new album was made at the end of 2023 in north London, recorded at Rat Salad Studios with Rupert Lyddon as co-producer. True to their do-it-yourself approach, the first sketches were created in a cold room in Dalston among half drum kits and found pieces of wood and metal. Coote is on drums, his playing shaped by classic jazz, soul and blues. Gravity Freeze is intended for vinyl; the title track addresses the feeling of sleep paralysis—that strange sway between waking and dreaming. More than 25 years after their first singles, the band opens a new chapter, which they will present live in Hamburg.
