Info

Richard Ashcroft plays 3Arena, Dublin, on 16 May 2026. Born in Wigan in 1971, he came to prominence as the singer and main writer of The Verve, a band that bridged psychedelic rock, orchestral pop and a darker edge across A Storm in Heaven, A Northern Soul and Urban Hymns. After the split, he kept a melodic, alternative rock course with Alone with Everybody (2000), Human Conditions (2002), Keys to the World (2006), These People (2016), Natural Rebel (2018) and Acoustic Hymns Vol. 1 (2021), which revisits part of his catalogue. He has also appeared alongside UNKLE and The Chemical Brothers, moving between studio work, full-band tours and solo acoustic sets. His live shows shift between full-band dynamics and pared-back moments, drawing across three decades of songs.

The Royston Club open the night. The Wrexham quartet — Ben Matthias, Tom Faithfull, Dave Tute and Sam Jones — write immediate hooks and tight riffs with candid, straight-ahead energy. From early self-released demos to Coasting reaching the UK vinyl charts, they built momentum that led to their debut Shaking Hips and Crashing Cars (number 16 in the UK) and festival slots from Glastonbury to Rock en Seine. Their second album, Songs for the Spine, marks a more assured, high-intensity indie rock, cut for the stage and ready to set the tone before Ashcroft steps in.
