Info
On 11 August 2026, MTELUS in Montréal hosts a night of extreme metal with Hypocrisy and Hulder.
Hypocrisy formed in the early 1990s in Sweden around guitarist, vocalist and producer Peter Tägtgren. From the Floridian-influenced brutality of Penetralia and Osculum Obscenum to the more melodic and atmospheric turn of The Fourth Dimension and Abducted, the band shaped a death metal identity threaded with themes of alien abductions and covert conspiracies. On stage as a tight power trio with Mikael Hedlund on bass and Horgh on drums, Hypocrisy moves between dense mid-tempo grooves and sharper accelerations, growled vocals and riffs with clear hooks, drawing across eras from Virus to End of Disclosure.
Hulder is the Belgian-born, US-based solo black metal project rooted in the early 90s Scandinavian tradition. In the studio, Hulder handles all instruments and voice; live, a dedicated lineup carries the material to the stage. Abrasive guitars meet readable melodic lines and medieval-tinged keyboards, with lyrics steeped in rural gloom, ancient myths and a stark feudal imagery. After underground demos and the compilation De Oproeping van Middeleeuwse Duisternis, Hulder released the debut album Godslastering: Hymns of a Forlorn Peasantry in 2021, followed by The Eternal Fanfare in 2022 and the second album Verses in Oath in 2024.
