Cheekface brings their dry, talk-sung indie rock to The Wise in Vancouver on October 17, 2026. Formed in Los Angeles by Greg Katz and Amanda Tannen with drummer Mark "Echo" Edwards, the trio runs tight rhythms, straight-ahead guitars and short, clipped melodies. Their songs lean on wry, observational lyrics delivered in a half-spoken flow, somewhere between pub rock pulse and post-punk edges. Across Therapy Island, Emphatically No., Too Much to Ask and 2024's It's Sorted, the band has adjusted the formula without losing its DIY footing, channeling everyday frictions into compact hooks built for the stage.
Special guest Bodega opens with a New York art-punk streak: angular guitars, minimal patterns and semi-spoken vocals from the core of Ben Hozie and Nikki Belfiglio. Born in Brooklyn's DIY circuit, the group writes about consumption, media habits and city life with a blunt, slightly ironic tone. Records like Endless Scroll, the EP Shiny New Model, Broken Equipment and 2024's Our Brand Could Be Yr Life sketch a lean sound that favors collective drive over gloss. Live, the band keeps it tight and rhythmic, setting up Cheekface with a sharp downtown cadence.
