On July 3, 2026, at Le Triton in Les Lilas, Magma presented Zeuhl Kommandöh, a set conceived around its own house language: bass pulses in ostinato, cyclical rhythms, choirs carried by Kobaïan, and a tension that moves between progressive rock, modal jazz, and collective composition. Founded in 1969, the group has built a repertoire in which form matters as much as energy, from the early pieces of Mëkanïk Dëstruktïẁ Kömmandöh to Zëss, via Köhntarkösz, K.A and Ëmëhntëhtt-Ré. This material reaches its full impact on stage, within a collective whose lineup shifts, designed for the ebb and flow of a music that advances by cycles.
Behind the drum kit and on vocals, Christian Vander steers the rhythmic and vocal architecture, making motifs and voices circulate like sonic blocks that interlock and transform. His way of articulating composed material and improvisation, inherited as much from jazz as from choral practice, keeps to a clear course: a precise trance, an invented vocal language that frames the narrative, and contained outbursts that give the choirs room to breathe. At Le Triton, Magma offers this alchemy plainly—raw and meticulously measured, crafted for the intimacy of the venue.
