Earl Sweatshirt, who first emerged with Odd Future, has shaped a dense, elliptical rap—from Doris (2013) to Some Rap Songs (2018), then Sick! (2022) and Voir Dire with The Alchemist (2023). Low-slung flow, cryptic imagery, fragmented structures: he lays his lyrics over soul and jazz loops in a tight, introspective aesthetic.
MIKE, a New York transplant and founder of the 10k label, moves with a drawling yet precise delivery over muted, velvety beats. From May God Bless Your Hustle (2017) to Disco! (2021), Beware of the Monkey (2022) and Burning Desire (2023), he weaves stories of everyday life, the cities he’s passed through and mental health, carried by lo‑fi production that leaves room for the words.
