Info
On May 29, 2026 at the Transbordeur in Villeurbanne, Ben Howard returns with a live show that spans his various periods, from the acoustic folk of Every Kingdom to the more electronic, fragmented tracks of Is It?. On stage he favors a compact band and rearrangements that shift his songs from a narrative folk format toward more open forms. Fingerstyle arpeggios, open chords and electric guitars intersect with keyboards, rhythmic loops and vocal processing, creating a sound that continually evolves from one album to the next.
This concert draws as much on his early work as on his more atmospheric records, I Forget Where We Were and Noonday Dream, where structures stretch out and tension is built up in layers. The influence of his collaboration with Nathan Jenkins (Bullion) on Is It? can be heard in more synthetic textures and supple rhythms, integrated without breaking with his melodic songwriting. Rather than reproducing tracks note-for-note, Ben Howard likes to alter tempos, harmonies and dynamics, giving his repertoire a different dimension in concert—positioned between folk, ambient and alternative rock.
