Info
Marcus Miller performs at La Maison Symphonique in Montréal on June 25, 2026. An electric bassist, composer and producer from Brooklyn, he moves effortlessly among soul, funk, jazz and R&B, guided by a pronounced sense of groove and melodic craft. First noticed in New York television bands and later as an arranger for Luther Vandross, he became a pivotal collaborator for Miles Davis on Tutu, Music from Siesta and Amandla, where his bass lines and compositions helped define the records’ sound.
On stage, Miller fuses tight funk patterns with modern jazz harmonies and approachable themes, in a fusion-minded approach that borders on urban music. He draws from his own catalog — The Sun Don’t Lie, Tales, M2, Silver Rain, Renaissance, Afrodeezia, Laid Black — and from varied collaborations, assembling sets that alternate deep-pocket instrumentals and songs. With a flexible band that can range from a focused quartet to a larger ensemble, interplay remains central: riffs, breaks, unison lines and room for solos, always anchored by his elastic electric bass.
