April Wine

April Wine return to their Halifax roots with a concert on March 7, 2026 at Casino Nova Scotia. Formed in the city in 1969 before relocating to Montreal, the band carved a path through the 70s with harmonized guitars, radio-friendly choruses and a balance of grit and melody. Early albums like April Wine, On Record and Electric Jewels set the tone, followed by Stand Back and First Glance, which pushed their sound across North America. The early 80s brought The Nature of the Beast and Power Play, tightening the contrast between riff-driven rockers and slow-burn ballads that still anchor their shows. On stage, the set roams through the staples — I Like to Rock, Just Between You and Me, Sign of the Gypsy Queen — while leaving room for deeper cuts from the 90s run, including Attitude and Frigate. It’s a straight-to-the-point rock show built around guitars, voices and songs that travel well through time, with the added charge of playing in Halifax, Canada, where the story started.
