Info

Salebarbes, the Acadian collective from New Brunswick and the Îles-de-la-Madeleine, brings a new show to Théâtre Capitole in Québec City on 13 February 2027. Formed by Éloi and Jonathan Painchaud, Kevin McIntyre, Georges Belliveau and Jean-François Breau, the band shares voices and roles on stage, drawing from a francophone repertoire rooted in Acadie and Louisiana. Fiddle lines, guitars and tight harmonies anchor a sound that blends folk and cajun with touches of country and rock, carried by danceable rhythms and a warm, unfiltered Acadian vernacular.

First revealed in performance before committing their approach to record, Salebarbes captured their live spirit on Live au Pas Perdus (2019), then expanded the mix of originals and tradition on Gin à l’eau salée (2021) and À boire deboutte (2023). On stage, they move easily between call-and-response choruses, two-steps and waltzes, keeping arrangements open and communal. After eight sold-out nights at the same venue since 2023, they return to Théâtre Capitole with a set shaped for movement, singalongs and a dose of humor, reconnecting audiences with a living strand of North American francophone culture.
