Info
Alan Doyle, singer, guitarist and songwriter first known as the frontman of Great Big Sea, plays Massey Hall in Toronto on March 15, 2026, with special guests The East Pointers. Raised in Petty Harbour, Newfoundland and Labrador, Doyle has carried Atlantic Canadian songs since the early 1990s. His solo work — Boy on Bridge, So Let’s Go, A Week at the Warehouse, and the EPs Rough Side Out and Back to the Harbour — stays close to maritime melodies and Celtic accents while opening space for personal storytelling, call-and-response choruses and folk-rock arrangements. He often collaborates across the folk and rock scene, and his film and TV work feeds a narrative streak.
The East Pointers, a Prince Edward Island trio built around fiddle, banjo and guitar, open the night. Formed by cousins Koady and Tim Chaisson with Jake Charron, the band blends the Celtic pulse of the Maritimes with contemporary folk and light pop textures. Secret Victory (2015) introduced their approach; What We Leave Behind (2017) deepened the balance between island tradition and modern writing; Yours To Break (2019) moved toward electronic shades without losing the drive of reels and jigs. After the passing of Koady Chaisson in 2022, the group reshaped its lineup and continues to adapt this repertoire on stage, alternating instrumentals and songs.
