Dea Matrona lands in Paris on March 22, 2027 at the Trabendo with their edgy, catchy rock, road-tested and nourished by a true DIY ethos. Originally, Mollie McGinn and Orláith Forsythe—singers and multi-instrumentalists who met as teenagers—cut their teeth together on the streets of Belfast. Since then, the band has built its sound through live shows, moving at its own pace, close to the audience, and without waiting for someone to open the door for them.
After For Your Sins (2024), their debut album that marked a milestone and established their identity at the crossroads of pop melodies, straightforward guitars and direct energy, Dea Matrona continues to broaden the frame. Their music embraces a form of nostalgia — somewhere between Fleetwood Mac harmonies and the Cranberries' momentum — but the lyrics stay anchored in the present: identity, a place to claim, the feeling of being on the sidelines, all of which are transformed into taut and vibrant tracks. On stage, this writing takes on another dimension, rougher, more collective, with this blend of attitude and camaraderie that is their strength.
