Formed in Tokyo in 1992, the trio — Atsuo, Takeshi and Wata — move between drone, doom, noise and psych, building songs on repetition, sharp volume shifts and thick layers of guitar. Pink (2005) marked a turn toward shorter, hard-driving tracks without losing their taste for long-form feedback and ambient detours; this show revolves around that period, folding in the trio’s heavier and more melodic sides. Across a broad discography — from Absolutego and Amplifier Worship to Flood, Dear, NO, W and Heavy Rocks — Boris keep shifting formats while holding onto a distinct pulse that carries from hypnotic drift to blunt-force rock. Their collaborations with Keiji Haino, Merzbow, Sunn O))) and Michio Kurihara feed into a live language where drones blur into songs and back again, with guitars surging, then cutting to silence before rebuilding.
