Carminho

On 16 March 2027, Carminho took to the stage at Salle Pleyel in Paris for her first headline concert in the capital. Born in Lisbon in 1984 and the daughter of fadista Teresa Siqueira, she trained early in fado houses before carving out a path that connects tradition with more recent songcraft. Her clear voice and storytelling instinct carry a repertoire rooted in classical fado, while remaining receptive to Brazilian echoes she has explored across albums and collaborations, notably around Tom Jobim.

On stage she alternates between intimate asides and communal surges, supported by the guitarra portuguesa and a precise interpretative approach. She revisits standards and her own songs—from Fado, Alma e Canto to Maria and Portuguesa—where dialogues with bossa nova and MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) come to the fore. Collaborations with Chico Buarque, Marisa Monte and Milton Nascimento have nourished this unadorned songwriting, attentive to text and breath. It is an opportunity to hear a living fado, between Lisbon roots and contemporary contours.
