The Beach Boys

The Beach Boys bring their California songbook to Edinburgh Playhouse in Edinburgh on 16 June 2026. Formed in 1961 around the Wilson brothers, Mike Love and Al Jardine, the band shaped a sound where tight vocal harmonies meet surf rhythms and pop instinct. Over the years, their writing leaned from sun-chasing anthems toward more crafted, introspective arrangements, notably on Pet Sounds, while still keeping a feel for melody and groove.

On stage today, The Beach Boys revisit every corner of that catalog: early surf and car tunes, shimmering vocal stacks, and the more nuanced textures of the late 60s and 70s. Expect crisp guitars, layered voices and arrangements tailored for live dynamics, moving from the rush of Surfin’ U.S.A. and California Girls to the contours of Good Vibrations, God Only Knows or gems from Sunflower and Surf’s Up. It’s a set built around blends and counter-melodies, where each chorus locks in like a wave, and the harmonies carry that unmistakable West Coast hue right into the room.
