Info

The Undertones mark their 50 years with a one-off stop at Edinburgh Corn Exchange, Edinburgh, on 3 October 2026. Formed in Derry in the mid‑70s, the band forged a direct mix of punk energy and pop melody, writing short, hooky songs about adolescence, everyday life and tangled feelings. The classic run of records set the tone: a taut self‑titled debut in 1979, followed by Hypnotised in 1980, then a shift toward richer arrangements on Positive Touch (1981) and The Sin of Pride (1983) before an initial split.

Reformed in the late 90s with Paul McLoone on vocals alongside original members John and Damian O’Neill, Michael Bradley and Billy Doherty, The Undertones picked up the thread on stage and in the studio, with Get What You Need (2003) and Dig Yourself Deep (2007) extending their punchy, melodic writing across punk rock, garage and power pop. For this anniversary show, expect a set that cuts straight to the point, spanning early rushes and later favourites. Very special guests will be announced in April.
