Primal Scream

Primal Scream land at Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow on 3 September 2026. Led by Bobby Gillespie since 1982, the band has kept shifting shape: from the jangle-pop and psychedelia of Sonic Flower Groove to the tougher rock of their self-titled record, then the club-facing turn that birthed Screamadelica with Andrew Weatherall, folding acid house, dub and gospel into guitar music. On stage, that history becomes a set that moves freely, from the blues and soul of Give Out But Don’t Give Up to the motorik, cinematic drift of Vanishing Point, then into the abrasive electro-rock pulse of XTRMNTR and Evil Heat. With Andrew Innes and Darrin Mooney at the core, guitars and machines share the lead, grooves roll forward and the psych undertow keeps the edges loose. Recent chapters — Riot City Blues, More Light, Chaosmosis and 2024’s Come Ahead — sit alongside early cuts, tracing a clear line through four decades of writing, club culture and shape-shifting sound.
