Jools Holland and His Rhythm and Blues Orchestra

Info

Jools Holland brings his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra to Royal Liverpool Philharmonic on 12 June 2026. At the piano, he guides a full-blooded big-band lineup through the veins of rhythm and blues, boogie-woogie and swing. Expect tight horn parts, rolling left-hand riffs and arrangements built for groove and call-and-response, where the orchestra’s sections lock in and leave space for solos and vocal spotlights. The show navigates standards and Jools’s own repertoire with that blend of shuffle, jump and rock’n’roll he’s shaped on stage over the years.

Special guest Roachford joins to fold in his melodic, soul-rock sensibility and keyboard touch, bringing songs that lean on hooks, steady backbeats and a modern R&B edge. Vocalists Ruby Turner, Louise Marshall and Sumudu Jayatilaka share center stage across the set: leads that slip from blues to gospel-inflected soul, tight harmonies with the horn section, and handoffs with Jools’s piano. Together, they push the orchestra toward a live sound that’s direct, rhythmic and open to improvisation, the kind that turns a concert hall into a dancefloor pulse—here, in Liverpool, for one night only.
