The Proclaimers

The Proclaimers land at Connexin Live, Hull on 15 October 2026, carried by the twin voices of Craig and Charlie Reid. Formed in 1983, the Scottish duo forged a straight-talking sound where folk-rock, roots pop and a touch of punk energy meet tight harmonies and lyrics that go right to the point. Their early run set the tone with This Is the Story in 1987 and Sunshine on Leith in 1988, propelling songs like Letter from America, I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) and Sunshine on Leith into the collective memory.

Since then, they’ve moved freely between acoustic duo and full band, touring the UK, North America and Australia, and adding new chapters with albums from Hit the Highway to Persevere, Born Innocent, Life with You, Notes & Rhymes, Like Comedy, Angry Cyclist and, most recently, Dentures Out in 2022. On stage, the focus stays on the voices up front, guitars that keep the songs driving, and arrangements that leave room for the choruses to hit.

Expect a set that threads newer material with long-time favourites, the accent and cadence that define their writing, and that steady stride the Reids have made their own. A chance to hear how four decades of songs still connect, up close, in Hull.
