David Castello-Lopes « Délicieux »

On 2 February 2027 at La Gare du Midi in Biarritz, David Castello-Lopes presents Délicieux, a new solo show that examines a seemingly simple subject: pleasure. With his eye for detail and observation, he traces back what truly delights us, from small unapologetic satisfactions to less readily admitted joys. A glass of chasselas by a lake, the discreet pleasure of pronouncing Étivaz without the final z, the thrill of a promotion, but also the uneasy relief upon hearing that someone you didn’t much like has died: he places these triggers side by side, takes them apart, compares them, and considers what they reveal about us. On stage he conducts an inquiry on a human scale, balancing light instruction with measured humor, true to his habit of making lists, pointing out blind spots, and linking the obvious. Délicieux treats pleasure as both its subject and a modest promise, without grandstanding, playing that little game of mirrors that searches for what makes us feel good while trying to give it to others. A show conceived for everyone, it speaks of our habits, our biases, and the very real satisfaction of eating Gruyère in Gruyères.
