UB40

UB40 brings their Birmingham-grown reggae to Munich: on 12 March 2026 at the TonHalle Munich. Since the late 1970s the band has fused offbeat grooves with pop and rock elements, carried by distinctive horn lines and a mid-tempo feel. The early albums Signing Off and Present Arms reflect the socially shaped beginnings with a dub influence, while Labour of Love (1983) turned the spotlight to source material from the ’60s and ’70s and continued in that direction on subsequent releases. With Promises and Lies the group opened up more to melodic forms without giving up its own signature. Live, UB40 alternates between original compositions and reinterpretations, incorporates versions and favors organic arrangements. Lineup changes in the 2000s shifted the balance — Ali Campbell left the band in 2008, later followed by Astro — yet the formation continues to tour with founding members and new voices. The result is a set that brings together several decades and distills the quintessential UB40 sound.
