Info

Black Marble is Chris Stewart’s solo project, born in Brooklyn’s cold wave revival and built on minimalist synth-pop: steady, clipped rhythms, spare melodies, and a voice kept slightly in the background, like a late-night radio signal. After breaking through with A Different Arrangement (2012) on Hardly Art, Stewart pushed the formula forward on It’s Immaterial (2016), sharpening the hooks without losing that detached, nocturnal mood. With Bigger Than Life (2019) and the Sacred Bones era, his writing opened up into brighter arrangements while keeping the same cool, character-driven storytelling. Fast Idol then folds those wider textures back into darker production, balancing fizzing synth lines with a post-punk edge.

On April 1, 2027, at Brudenell Social Club in Leeds, Black Marble brings that tight, self-contained sound to the stage: concise songs, a chill sense of movement, and melodies that stick around long after the lights come up.
