Info
On May 9, 2027, Herb Alpert brings Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic in Liverpool for a concert that reconnects with one of the most distinctive sounds in American instrumental pop. Built around Alpert’s melodic trumpet lines, the Tijuana Brass vibe blends Latin-tinged grooves, punchy brass-band colors, and lush orchestral arrangements that made tracks like “The Lonely Bull” and the era-defining “Whipped Cream & Other Delights” a calling card.
This show also captures the way Alpert’s music has always moved between worlds: easy-listening hooks with real craft behind them, pop sensibility with a jazz touch, and that clean, direct sense of rhythm that keeps everything light on its feet. Expect a set that nods to the classic Tijuana Brass repertoire while leaving room for the later turns in his career, from vocal pop moments to smoother jazz and funk accents that grew out of releases like “Rise.”
