Info
Orbital are back on the road, and Manchester gets a proper dose of their long-form, story-driven electronic music on April 17, 2027 at Manchester Academy. Built around brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll, the Kent duo came out of the late-80s UK rave rush and never really fit into one box: their sound moves between techno pulse, breakbeat snap, and stretches of ambient and more accessible IDM, with tracks that evolve patiently rather than hitting you with quick drops.
Live, Orbital have always treated the stage like an extension of the club, taking that physical rave energy into a concert setting while keeping the details for close listening. Expect a set that nods to key eras, from the early breakthrough of “Chime” and the self-titled records of the 90s to the wider, moodier writing of albums like Snivilisation and In Sides, plus the recent chapter opened with Optical Delusion and its sharp-edged collaborations.
