Info
Bodega are a New York-based art-rock band, born in 2016 from the ashes of the trickster collective Bodega Bay (active between 2013 and 2016). The group's leaders and songwriters, Ben Hozie and Nikki Belfiglio, are also multidisciplinary artists: Ben is a filmmaker (author of PVT Chat, with Julia Fox and Peter Vack), while Nikki is a visual artist who oversees all of the band's graphic publications, including the creation of an aquarium full of handcrafted miniatures for their upcoming album, All Inside Aquarium, due for release on October 9 on Chrysalis Records.
Known for their unpredictable performances, in which they never play the same set twice, Bodega writes lyrics with philosophical and literary roots, aimed at probing the hidden influences that guide everyday thought and behavior. Their motto is that the best critique is self-criticism, and their songs often address with cutting wit the hypocrisies and contradictions, both philosophical and political, into which they themselves fall.
The new album, All Inside Aquarium, draws inspiration from late-80s and early-90s sounds, notably recalling bands such as The Stone Roses and Jane's Addiction. Bodega will perform on March 14, 2027 at the Wishlist Club.
