Info
On March 31, 2027, Jean-Michel Blais settles in at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven for a concert centered on piano, silence, and space. The Quebecois composer and performer builds his pieces from improvisation, with a sensibility for minimalism and neoclassical tensions, but without the strict rules of the conservatory. Do not expect classical bravura; rather, music that breathes: clear motifs, long resonances, and small shifts that only truly reveal themselves when you surrender to them.
Blais broke through with Il, an album he recorded at home in Montreal, in which you can hear the intimacy almost literally. Afterward he broadened his palette toward electronic textures, including through his collaboration with CFCF and on Dans ma main. Live, all of that comes together: an intimate piano core, attention to acoustics and timbre, and compositions that feel both simple and move beneath the surface.
