On April 19, 2027, Current Swell will come to Kulturhaus Insel Berlin, bringing the sound of their Pacific coast homeland directly to the stage. The quartet from Victoria, British Columbia, has been developing since the early 2000s its own blend of indie rock, folk, and surf and roots influences: plenty of acoustic songwriting, harmonies in multiple voices, and melodies that evoke the street and the sea. On stage, you can expect this band to be a well-seasoned touring machine — songs that grew up in small clubs and on BC's beaches work just as well today, with more drive and a denser guitar sound. In recent years their sound has noticeably broadened: rockier, electric, with rhythms that sometimes brush blues or a light reggae edge, without losing its direct, clear songcraft. An evening in Berlin for everyone who enjoys handmade, dynamic guitar pop and for those who value bands that carry the touring spirit in their sound.
