Swapmeet land in Brighton and Hove on November 6, 2026 at The Hope & Ruin with the kind of guitar-heavy indie rock that nods to 90s alternative without getting stuck in nostalgia. The South Australian four-piece—Venus O’Broin, Joshua Doherty, Maxwell Elphick and Jack Medlyn—builds songs with a shifting, collaborative setup, trading instruments and voices to keep the arrangements in motion.
Onstage, expect that push-and-pull they’ve been honing since their early Adelaide days: jangly brightness brushed with shoegaze haze, alt-rock bite, and tempos that can sit back before snapping into something more urgent. Their EP Oxalis and newer material point to a band obsessed with melody, texture, and the small dramas of growing up—first breakups, hesitation, and those moments where life forks and you don’t know which way you’re going yet. This date is a chance to catch Swapmeet as they scale up from local circuits into bigger rooms, with a live set built for loud guitars and shared energy.
