Drink The Sea is a globally renowned group of musicians, songwriters in their respective '90s bands. The members are:
- Peter Buck, founding guitarist and songwriter of R.E.M.
- Duke Garwood, British singer-songwriter and guitarist who has authored numerous solo albums
- Alain Johannes, Chilean-American producer, multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter who founded the band Eleven
- Barrett Martin, Grammy-winning producer, drummer and songwriter of the Seattle-based band Screaming Trees and the group Mad Season
- Lisette Garcia, Mexican-American percussionist who has played on numerous albums from around the world.
Drink The Sea started three years ago, in 2022, when Alain and Barrett improvised in Barrett's studio in Olympia, WA, to see what kind of music they could create together.
Taking its name from a lyric written by Duke, the albums are produced and mixed by Barrett and Alain and reflect the members' extensive experience as composers, arrangers and singers. They also show a strong influence of world music that permeates all their music: while the tracks are built around traditional guitar, bass and drum configurations, the songs also incorporate the sounds of the Arabic oud, the Indian sitar, the Indonesian gamelan and various percussion such as Brazilian surdo, frame drum, vibraphone, marimba and kalimba. The event will take place on 23 October 2026 at the Bronson Club.
