Info
DeVotchKa land in Manchester at Gorilla on October 7, 2026, with a set built for anyone who likes their indie rock spiked with somewhere-else. Born in Denver’s late-90s scene around singer Nick Urata, the band has always liked to stretch the format: a core quartet that often grows on stage, shifting line-ups and instruments as the songs open up.
What you get live is that unmistakable blend they’ve perfected over the years: indie songwriting threaded with Eastern European folk, mariachi hints, Balkan rhythms and cabaret colors, carried by strings and brass as much as guitars and drums. The music moves fast between tempos and moods, from bittersweet melodies to sudden bursts of momentum.
After records like How It Ends helped them break out beyond the US alternative circuit, and their work for the Little Miss Sunshine soundtrack put their sound in a wider spotlight, DeVotchKa kept pushing the orchestral side of their catalog without losing the immediacy. Expect a show that leans into that tension: intimate songs that feel cinematic, and big arrangements that still hit like a band.
