Info
On December 9, 2026, at Night & Day Cafe in Manchester, Sam Shackleton brings his acoustic folk set to town, rooted in Scottish song but open to the wider Atlantic thread. Born in Stirling and shaped by years spent across the Borders and the Highlands, he works in the space where traditional ballads, old-time, country and blues can sit in the same breath, with a clear nod to the 1960s folk revival.
Expect a night built around voice and storytelling: a mix of personal writing and reworked older songs, handled with the kind of care you get from someone who’s studied the tradition as much as lived it. Shackleton’s background in Scottish ethnology and folklore feeds into the way he treats songs as shared memory, carrying landscapes, characters and everyday details forward rather than polishing them into museum pieces. It’s intimate, direct, and meant to be passed on.
