On March 25, 2027, Orchestra Baobab lands at Future Yard in Birkenhead with the kind of repertoire that’s been shaped on dancefloors for decades. Founded in Dakar in 1970 as the house band of the Club Baobab, the collective built its signature on that West African Afro-Cuban wave, then pushed it further: Latin rhythms and rumba swing braided with Wolof, Mandinka and Serer colors, plus those polyglot vocals that move between languages without losing the groove.
What you hear on stage is a band that thinks in interlocking guitars, supple horns and long, steady builds made for dancing as much as listening. After a first golden era and a long pause, Baobab came back in the early 2000s and reconnected with a new audience, without turning into a nostalgia act. This show is a chance to catch that living Dakar sound in motion: elegant, warm, and built around rhythm, chorus lines and collective energy rather than solo spotlighting.
