On 26 August 2027, MEUTE will come to the Zeltfestival Ruhr in Bochum and bring techno to a place you might not normally expect it: into the hands of an eleven-piece street orchestra from Hamburg. Since 2015, the band has translated the drive of house, deep house and techno into a completely acoustic setup, carried by brass and percussion. It works like a DJ set without turntables: repetitive patterns, clear builds, sudden drops – only with trumpets, trombones, horns and a drumline.
MEUTE first became known for its version of “Rej” (Âme); since then they have steadily expanded their repertoire with new arrangements and original pieces. Between club energy and concert-hall discipline, they draw on tracks from the electronic scene and turn them into immediate live moments in which you can physically feel the pulse of dance music. Albums such as Tumult, Puls, Taumel and Empor mark this path – on stage, what counts most is the interplay, the forward push, and the sound that travels surprisingly far without electronics.
