On March 18, 2027, Alcest bring their singular blackgaze universe to O2 Institute Birmingham, right at the crossroads of black metal intensity and shoegaze haze. Built around Stéphane “Neige” Paut and, since 2009, drummer Winterhalter, the project has a real live-band feel: tight, physical drums pushing against guitars that blur into waves, shifting from saturation to near-ambient calm.
Expect a set that moves through the band’s key eras, from the early turn toward melodic, ethereal textures on Le Secret and Souvenirs d’un autre monde, to the contrasts of Écailles de Lune where clean singing and distant screams coexist without fighting for space. More recent chapters like Kodama and Spiritual Instinct lean darker and sharper, while Les Chants de l’aurore keeps that bittersweet, luminous mood at the core. A show for anyone who likes their heaviness dreamy, and their dreaminess loud.
